Mixers and output
Use ScoreFX with OBS, vMix, Wirecast, Vizrt TriCaster and Blackmagic ATEM.
Add the overlay to OBS
- 01Open Browser LinksOpen a match and choose Browser Links in the top bar.
- 02Choose an outputCopy Alpha for native transparency, Black for luma keying, or Green for chroma keying.
- 03Create an OBS Browser SourceIn OBS, add a Browser Source, paste the copied URL, and set its size to 1920 × 1080.
- 04Test the signalKeep OBS visible while you put the scoreboard and a test graphic on air from the control room.
Use vMix or Wirecast
- 01Copy a Browser LinkOpen Browser Links for the match and copy Alpha, Black or Green to suit your production.
- 02Add a web sourceIn vMix, add a Web Browser input. In Wirecast, add a Web Page source. Paste the ScoreFX link and use a 1920 × 1080 source size.
- 03Choose the keying methodUse Alpha where the software preserves browser transparency. Otherwise use Black with a luma key or Green with a chroma key.
- 04Test on programmeCheck the scoreboard, a match event and a full-screen graphic before the broadcast starts.
Use Vizrt TriCaster
- 01Use App Desktop on TriCaster 2 Elite and newerOpen the ScoreFX Alpha, Black or Green Browser Link directly inside the TriCaster App Desktop web browser. Assign the active browser page area as a regular switcher input or a DSK overlay, just like any other live source.
- 02Choose the keying methodUse Alpha if the browser source preserves transparency. Otherwise use Black with a luma key or Green with a chroma key, then apply the key in the TriCaster mixer.
- 03Match the video formatSet the browser source size to 1920 × 1080 and the same frame rate as the TriCaster session, then check fill, edges and timing.
- 04Alternative: feed from an external computerOn older TriCaster models without App Desktop, open the ScoreFX Green or Black output in OBS on a separate computer and send its output to a TriCaster HDMI or SDI input using suitable hardware or conversion. Key the background in the TriCaster mixer.
TriCaster models and available inputs vary. Confirm the supported connector, App Desktop availability and video format for your unit before the event.
Send OBS to a Blackmagic ATEM
Use OBS as the graphics playout computer and send its full-screen output into the ATEM as a keyed video source.
- 01Use the Green ScoreFX outputAdd the ScoreFX Green Browser Link to OBS as a 1920 × 1080 Browser Source. Green is the most straightforward route because standard HDMI and SDI feeds do not carry transparency.
- 02Match the ATEM formatSet the OBS canvas, output resolution and frame rate to the same video standard used by the ATEM, such as 1080p50. A mismatched signal may not appear at the ATEM input.
- 03Connect over HDMIUse a spare computer display output, connect it to an ATEM HDMI input, and extend the desktop to that display. In OBS, open a Fullscreen Projector for the programme or graphics scene on that output.
- 04Connect over SDIUse a compatible video output device or an HDMI-to-SDI converter between the graphics computer and an ATEM SDI input. The device must support the exact resolution and frame rate used by the ATEM.
- 05Create the key in ATEMIn ATEM Software Control, select the connected input as the upstream or downstream key fill, choose Chroma, sample the green background and adjust the key until the graphic edges are clean.
- 06Keep the output cleanHide the cursor, disable display sleep and notifications, and make sure the OBS projector fills the external display without menus or window borders.
- 07Run a full testPut the scoreboard and several temporary graphics on air, then check colour, edges, delay and safe positioning on the ATEM programme output.
If the computer and ATEM use different connectors, use a broadcast converter that supports the required standard. Conversion does not correct an unsupported resolution or frame rate.
True transparency
- Use the Alpha URL for an OBS Browser Source whenever possible.
- No key filter is needed; graphics are composited directly over the programme picture.
- Keep the source at 1920 × 1080 so every graphic lands in the intended position.
Luma key
- Use the Black URL when your mixer removes black luminance.
- Add or configure a luma-key filter in your production system.
- Team and brand colours are passed through as selected, so test dark badges and colours before broadcast.
Chroma key
- Use the Green URL for a solid #00b140 background.
- Key out that green in the mixer or OBS filter.
- Avoid using matching green in team badges or graphics where possible.
Pre-broadcast checklist
- Confirm the source is 1920 × 1080 and fills the canvas without scaling errors.
- Match the frame rate and output format when feeding TriCaster or ATEM hardware.
- Refresh the Browser Source after publishing a new version if it still shows old behaviour.
- Check the scoreboard, event graphic, lower third and brand bug.
- Use slide and scale transitions only; ScoreFX graphics avoid fades for keying reliability.
